Rome 2012 with Catholic Answers

So I thought I would post some pictures from my recent trip. My parents and I went over to Europe and joined the Western Mediterranean/European 2012 Catholic Answers Cruise in May of this year. I had a blast. It took me 2 months to catch up afterwards, but that’s ok!

The first thing we did was join the precruise tour of Rome for four days. Here are a few memorable pictures.

At San Pietro in Vincoli we had our first mass in Europe.  These chains are supposed to be the actual chains Peter was held in.

I have tons of pictures of the Colosseum.  It’s so large and impressive and surrounded by modern Rome!

The Arch of Constantinople.  I love this piece of history.

Next we walked through the Roman Forum.  Karl Keating gave mini-lectures in the rain.

You can so much here, the Roman Forum, a triumphal arch, part of a church, and the Vittoriano Monument and other things I don’t have names for.  It was a tough walk up there, too.

St Peter’s Cathedral was wonderful.  Hard to take pictures of.  I captured a decent image of The Pieta, by Michaelango.  Hard as it is behind glass.

Here are my parents touching the foot of St Peter’s statue.  I made them do it.

I adore this image of the Holy Spirit above all others.  And I finally got some pictures that help show why I love it.

And my favorite activity of the day: LITERALLY crossing the Tiber!!

Baby Stuff

I haven’t been posting, but I have been knitting! I have just finished several projects that I started in Europe and finished up back at home. More on that later.

First I have another Baby Sweater On Two Needles (February) by Elizabeth Zimmerman.  I used pink baby cashmerino. It took three balls. I only took two to Europe but found a leftover bit here at home that seems to match well enough, thank goodness! I made it on size 2 needles and should have made it looser. I was making it tight on purpose so the neck is very small. Oops. It’s such a great pattern though. I love making it.

I also made another Matinee Jacket.  It’s also a great pattern, by Alchemy.  Previous baby I made it for wore it a lot and it kind of stretched out for her so she could keep wearing it a long time.  Hopefully this will get the same kind of use.  I used koigu kersti yarn just like last time.

I also made my favorite baby booties, Ruth’s Perfect Baby Booties, also in baby cashmerino.   They came out so adorable, as always.

Now I am working on some socks for myself in the famous Monkey Sock pattern.

My cat has been under the weather lately.  He still loves snuggling and gives great massages.  And he is feeling better now.

Liesl Kercheif

I wanted one more type of head covering for mass or every day, so when I found this one, I was hooked.

I also made this new clutch bag, the Super Easy Felted Clutch Purse. It’s free and on Ravelry.  I used one ball of Ella Rae classic black, felted it, glued on a broken bauble, and added a magnetic snap.  It is great.  I just made a second one too.  It’s 11*11 before felting.  Afterwards, about 8*5.

In other news I bought a new shoe rack yesterday and was able to put it together, drill holes to attach it to a 10 year old shoe rack.  Now all my shoes have a place to live!

And my new chair that I put together.  I think Lucy likes it.
