These are my two ebay plates. The first one says Haviland France. The second plate says E & C France 1899.

My new Vittoria Our Lady of Lourdes. It’s made of pulverized stone and marble and made in Italy. I just like it. I think for now I’ll keep her standing above and behind my computer to remind me to be nice online.

I just finished a baby hat and baby booties in pink.  The pinks won’t really match the sweater, but it might do well enough together.   That’s another button hat in  Rowan Soft Baby and the booties are in that wonderful Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino.  I need to buy some more of that!

Bailey managed to take up one whole picture.  You can just see the top of the hat over his back. He must have jumped up there 6 times while I tried to snap a picture.

Opal, Baby

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 2:24 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2008

Finished a new sweater. I started it on the July Alaskan cruise, so this sweater has been in or over many states, plus Canada. I used Opal cotton yarn, which actually has 38% wool, 32% polyamide, and 30% cotton. I used the free opal yarn baby sweater pattern, on their website. The pattern goes sideways which is neat, and wasn’t too hard. I didn’t have trouble following the pattern but I usually like more complete directions than this had. Maybe this means I am lazy but I just don’t like having to figure out how to space out buttonholes and how to make buttonholes and so on without directions. It’s probably good for me to have to figure it out. I used the entire ball except for some orange bits to make the sweater in the newborn/3 month size with size 1 needles. It would take a second ball to make the hat and booties, and if I had used a size 2 needle, I would have definitely run out of yarn too early. It blocked out very nicely.

size: 9.5 inches tall, if the collar part is measured. 11.5 inches across the body.
