Reusable Market Bag

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 4:29 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2008

I finally made one of those stretchy, stringy market bags. I used the Saturday Marget Bag pattern with Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece and used the modifications detailed on the Knit with Me blog. I gave it away already, so I don’t have much of a feel yet for how useful it is. I am definitely making more. I put six boxes, four soup of cans, and a box of oatmeal in there to take a picture and there was still room for more in there.

I rearranged my books today. These are just my “fun” books. My medical books are on other shelves.

The last picture demonstrates that I have nearly a whole empty shelf still to fill!!  (The pile of books on the left are books I’m getting rid of.)

Stripey Booga #3

Ohh, I do like it, I think. It’s got off white, dark red, and charcoal Cascade 220s. I used almost an entire ball of the red, and I have a lot of the off white and the charcoal left. I have another red ball too so I could actually make this again, or move the colors around maybe. Is it too bright?  It’s not as bright as this appears.

Size: 6.5 inches tall, 9 inches across, and 5 inches deep.

Pre blocking, it was 12 x 13.

Missing Gallbladder

Well, not really. I don’t miss it at all. Here are my wonderful trophies:

Before getting sick I had just finished adult sized slippers with this cool acrylic yarn called Marble. It’s really nice yarn, but 100% acrylic with blues, green, and a hint of gray. I used a solid acrylic gray from a frogged project for the sole. I liked this yarn so much, I bought a ball of pink/gray Marble today. It’ll go great with the leftover gray.

I also finished this cabled hat. I made it to look somewhat like the hat Tempe was wearing in a winter episode of Bones this year. I think I wish I had matched the color, rather than the pattern. However it’s perfectly sized for me, so I love it anyway. I used Debbie Bliss Donegal Luxury Tweed, in a gray with pink and white flecks in it. The pattern I picked was the 3AM Cable Hat.

Today I knitted a Booga Bag (#3). I just have the straps to do, then felting. I used three colors of Cascade 220, and copied a striping scheme I found on another Booga Bag I found on Flickr. Should I make the straps dark red or charcoal? I’m really impressed with this picture, the colors are so crisp looking, and can’t WAIT to see it felted. I think it will end up very small, though.

Red straps, I think. Yes.
