Perfect Glove

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 7:30 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2008

Yes, this IS the perfect glove. It fits my hands just right. This is from Not Just Socks, with Lana Grossa Meilenweit 100 Fantasy. This is Amanda modeling it for me.

My first Calorimetry is on her head, made with ggh magica.

I am currently packing away all Christmas stuff. Bailey had fun with the wrappings.

And slept.

The stocking is really coming along.  I have to wait a couple days now for the disappearing ink to disappear, then I can put the whole thing together.

Calorimetry Fun

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 6:24 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2008

Yeah, so the Calorimetry bug from knitty.com hit me. I picked up a couple types of yarn and started off yesterday… finished it yesterday, too. Really was easy. I had to adjust the pattern, like others, so I used 100 stitches to start with and I did about 10 repeats, I think. However, the yarn I chose, ggh Magica, didn’t really seem to explain its gauge very well. Rather than testing the gauge, I just picked smaller needles (size 6) and knit fairly tightly. Seemed to work out just fine. I had a leftover button that seems perfect. I know it’s not much to look at. But I like the colors and I just hope it covers my ears. I’ll let you know.

My new stocking pattern:

I need to buy some pinking shears (I put that purchase off for the last two decades) and I’ll be all set to start cutting felt. I’m still trying to decide if the snowman needs a scarf or will be carrying a broom or a candycane. Something doesn’t quite seem right.

Denim Pinafore

I have updated the Avery pictures to include the past year. Click here to view: AVERY PICS

I finally finished my denim pinafore, from Simple Knits for Little Cherubs, using Rowan denim yarn, for the age 3 size. I think I used seven balls, but I’m not sure. I adjusted the pattern to knit it in the round, and to knit the arm edging in the round. Worked great. It shrank in the dryer just the right amount.

I got this pretzel box and bailey discovered that the paper in the lid crinkled when sat upon. So he did some sitting while I worked on pictures.

And he slept a lot.

This is a very old baby bed made by my great grandfather, being kept company by my very own Raggedy Ann and Andy.

This is him, Edward Matthias Haws. I suspect he was a bit older when he made the doll bed.
