Yes, he actually likes climbing into the tub to get his feet wet. Not his tummy, though. But I keep hoping. Here he is happily drying off. See how high his front leg is wet?

Zoo 2007

Filed under: general — Theca at 12:38 am on Sunday, June 17, 2007

The Fort Wayne Zoo really IS an impressive zoo, considering Fort Wayne isn’t THAT big. The zoo has several sections, and has three rides plus a carousel and pony rides too. It really seems to have a lot for the little ones, and the prices (especially for the yearly pass) seem good. I went to the Parkview picnic zoo day and it was very, very hot and sunny out.

I got to admire my very favorite Fort Wayne zoo animal, the Red Panda. Red pandas are soo cute! Take a look:

After he obligingly strolled all over the cage for me, he got tired.

While waiting for His Cuteness to start showing off, I hid from the sun under this plant.

I also tried to cool off in the Sky Safari, but the lack of any sort of shade from the sun didn’t really help me get any cooler.

I’m the bottom blob.

Then I had to walk a loong way just to see this guy. But I guess it was worth it.

One of my first stops was at Monkey Island, home of their Capuchin monkeys. This one was sticking his tongue out.

Sophie #2

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 6:37 pm on Sunday, June 10, 2007

I did the second Sophie with simple JoAnne Fabrics yarn, since the yarn store closed. Grrrr. But I found some nice Patons yarn, Classic Merino Wool, which felts just fine and is probably cheaper than Cascade 220. I bought all the denim colored yarn they had. They haven’t restocked yet, I already checked. This Sophie is still quite small although I felted is less time and it took just over a ball of yarn.  It is 8.5 inches on the bottom and 7.5 inches at the top. Next time I’m trying it with double thickness yarn. Or, I’ll switch to making the Elizabeth bag. It’s bigger, and takes three balls of yarn.

I used this zipper that is probably meant for blue jeans. I think it matches well, though.

My african violet decided to flower. I wish I knew what I could do to encourage this more often. Pretty!
