St Catherine of Siena
This is the Feast Day of St Catherine.
Here is a very nice article about her life. St Catherine of Siena
I took a few pictures when I was in Siena. Not enough. It was a very fascinating place, looks almost untouched from the way it must have looked centuries ago in many ways.
This is the Church of San Domenico. This is a very old church and the head of St Catherine is on display inside. Her body is in Rome.

Nice view of the town, with the cathedral, the Duomo, off to the right. The tall structure on the very left is the tower to the town hall I think.

Closup of the Duomo. I believe that the Duomo was built painstakingly by the citizens during times of hardship. A massive addition was begun after some time, but the Black Death came and halted it and it was never finished. I thought it was pretty large just as it is.
