This is sized for an 8-12+ month baby. It’s the Fiber Trends CH 04 Ruffled Tulip Hat, made size small with Tahki Cotton Classic Mercerised Cotton. This took me two days to complete and I just love it.

Silk Corset

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 3:47 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2007

Finally done with my Corset Tank Top by Annie Modesitt, http://www.anniemodesitt.com/patterns/ I used Tilli Tomas Pure and Simple 100% silk in ruby wine. It took three skeins of yarn for a medium size, but I have a lot left over from the third skein. I am unsure if my gauge is correct, since the gauge is measured on loosely held, ribbed stitching. Every time I measured it came out differently!  But overall this was a lot of fun to make. The pattern was complicated and at times hard for me to follow but I never stayed stuck very long. The yarn fuzzes a lot, I have spent a lot of time cleaning off the fuzz. I washed it briefly in cold water in the washing machine to get the stitches loosened up and to get the cat hair off. No problems with that at all. This required 22 flat black buttons.

Felted Hotpad/Coaster

My sample hotpad/coaster both came out great. Only problem is, they took forever to felt enough. I’m not used to felting crocheted items. I’ve finally discovered some helpful tips including hand felting with frequent dips in the hot and cold water.
