Ebay

I got some Naturalizers on ebay! After days of watching and thinking and planning I finally bought a pair. See?

I got two left shoes, different brands, different styles. I guess I should have spent more time planning this.  Although in my defense the ebay picture didn’t look quite like this.

Close Call

This postcard was meant for some guy down the street from me.  I got it by mistake.  Luckily, I figured out the mistake before I gave myself a heart attack.

Oven Mitt

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 2:09 am on Wednesday, August 16, 2006

I haven’t had much time to knit lately. Mabel is coming along very slowly. I haven’t gotten any further on the other works in progress. Instead, I made some new ones! I used 3 balls of Noro Kureyon #52 to make a hot pad and an oven mitt, felted. The hotpad was from a design I copied from a craft bazaar as a kid. The oven mitt was this free pattern: www.madisonknittersguild.org/aanderson_fryingpan.pdf. The hotpad took several hours of work and the oven mitt took two days to finish.
I had to do five washer cycles and I am still not sure it is acceptable to give as a gift. I’ll take it to work tomorrow for second opinions.

Here’s a before and after.

I should add that I tried holding a bowl that had been microwaved with water for four minutes with the new mitt and my hand seemed well protected from the heat. Did you know that wool is naturally fire resistant?
I bought some nice cotton yarn, one ball just to try it out. I ended up making a dishcloth from it. It certainly is bright, pretty, and soft! Will have to test it out soon. This is called Manos Cotton Stria. In blue, obviously.

Still Going

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 11:30 pm on Sunday, August 6, 2006

I’ve done 7.5 of the boring Mabel inches, with 12.5 boring inches left. Yeah, I haven’t gotten much done this week. Work was extra tiring. But this is the final week of every night call! Yeah! Just five more days and nights. And the apartment is relatively clean, and the pets and the plants are all clean, happy, or full. And the heat wave is over, so that is good.

I’m thinking of starting a new project, since Mabel is boring me so much. I already have two other projects going. A blanket and a scarf. Even so I am thinking of starting my Sophie bag. Or something else felted with my leftover Noro Kureyon. Or maybe a Silk Garden hat. Or another $22 scarf. Mmmm. So many choices!

Maybe next weekend I’ll have the energy to visit the Knitting Today yarn store.  Not that I need more yarn. Do I?
