Boring

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 11:37 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2006

Yes, this mabel dress is boring.  I’ve go six inches done.  As I said, there are basically 20 inches of boring stuff, so I have only 14 inches left!  After that I get to do the part above the gathered skirt part.  More concerning, I have now finished 1/5 of the yarn.  Will I have enough?  It’ll take 3 full balls plus more to finish the bottom half.  The top part won’t take as much.  It might work out.  We’ll find out in a few weeks.

I also  bought yarn for a seond short sleeved ribbon sweater, in baby ull.  That only takes a week, so I might just do half the dress, then switch to the sweater for awhile.  Also I got some cute cotton patterns for cute tops for little girls.  Size 1, 2, 3 are available.  Hmmm.  Also there’s a cotton hat I want to make at some point but I don’t even have the pattern yet.  I should look back at my list and see what else I should be making.  Also, Christmas is only 5 months away!

Bow Tie Booties

Ok, don’t laugh.  I made another set of booties.  These are newborn size, with more baby ull yarn.  I used the pattern from before, the pink and white ones with the rolled edge, but I put two knitted ribbons in the pattern instead of the lacy pattern of the other one. I’m not sure what I think, but the color is pretty.

I am working on a pink cotton Mable dress, size 6-9 months.  It is made with size one needles and will take a looong time.  I calculated that there are 20 inches of boring knitting to do before I get to the empire waist and then it will go more quickly after that.  So far I have three of those boring inches done.  Only seventeen to go!

Ribbon Sweater

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 3:38 pm on Sunday, July 16, 2006

I finished another baby item. This is a 6-9 month vest, which I have renamed the short sleeved ribbon sweater. It is made with Rowan Cashcotton 4 ply in Simple Knits for Cherished Babies. It took one week to make. If I make it again I think I’ll do it in the round with round needles and double pointed needles. It would save a lot of seaming. Should I make it again? I think it looks cute… I don’t know how it will fit or how useful it will be. I could also make booties for it, but I’m tired of booties.

I have plenty of leftover pink yarn. So I made this little barbie outfit too. This is a short skirt with ribbon-tie waist. And a form fitting top to go with it.

One of the things I am most pleased with about this outfit is how cute it looks from the back.

Barbie wanted a better shot of her legs and her chest so here she is again:

Let’s try that again.

Not bad, considering I didn’t have any sort of pattern at all.  It didn’t take long to make either.

Here is my mom’s completed sweater, with my mom wearing it!

I have 4.5 busy weeks behind me, and 4.5 busy weeks in front of me. Hooray!

I have also been busy knitting. I’ve gotten half of the lacy scarf done, see?

And I just need two more nights to complete this wool vest, which isn’t a vest and isn’t wool. I’m renaming it the short-sleeved ribbon sweater.

Last weekend I finally put that new closure on my knitted purse. I was using velcro, but hated it. I got this bright decorative hook and eye, and a plain hook and eye, and used the bright hook with a plain black eye. It closes easy, and opens even easier! I just love it.

And Bailey slept a lot this week.

Fireworks

I watched some mediocre fireworks at the hospital today. They are really trying to advertise and stir up business, I guess. Anyway, I enjoyed watching and took pictures, too. It’s fascinating to see how the pictures turned out.

This one reminds me of mitosis. Or is it meiosis?
