Hans Og Grete Cardigan, Finished!

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 12:06 am on Sunday, April 23, 2006

I’ve finally finished the Dalegarn cardigan set, made with pink Baby Ull yarn.  It’s been very educational.  I redid the collar after all, and it looks much better.

Compare the new collar in the first pictures to the old collar in the bottom picture.  The new collar is only about an inch bigger than the old collar, but it doesn’t pull the cardigan out of shape like the old one.  The only difference is that the new collar is made with size 2 needles instead of size 0 like the instructions say.

This was made with Rowan kidsilk, double stranded. Fun stuff! It seems a bit big for size 0-3 months, but then it does have the tie.

And these Rowan denim shoes were from the same book,  50 Baby Booties to Knit.  It washes and feels just like denim!

Booties are done, but the sweater is still wet, and probably getting a new collar.

Happy Easter!

I made Easter eggs today. I used this kit called Marble Swirls by Easter Unlimited, carried by Walmart. I did like it. I thought that the blue and green colors were not very good but the pink and purple and yellow worked quite well. After I dyed each blue egg four times they came out well, but then I ran out of the blue color while I had lots of the other colors left. I might have to try it again next year!
I just noticed the marbled eggs are pictured on my marbled looking counter, how appropriate.

Old Sweaters

Filed under: knitting — Theca at 1:13 pm on Friday, April 14, 2006

Yesterday I dug out three old sweaters I knitted years ago. None of them fit right. I didn’t know how to do gauge properly back then. I still have a lot of trouble with it. I actually thought I had made two sweaters, till I found the third one. I was so surprised! I never got to wear it, so I forgot about it. It is probably a size small, and by the time I finished, it didn’t fit me. Too bad, because it looks really good. Probably itchy. I recall planning to wear a shirt or turtleneck under it.

The green sweater was the one I forgot about.
I also made a set of mittens and a scarf over Christmas 2005 with some Blossom trendsetter yarn. http://yarnlady.com/trendsetter/blossom.htm. Neat stuff, but hard to work with.

This hat was made out of Koigu yarn in January 2006. Aren’t the colors neat? I was about a month too late for Christmas, but I’ve been waiting two months for pictures of it being modeled. Hmm.

This is “crochet waterfall throw” made with Lion Brand Homespun in January 2006. It takes about eight hours of work.
